Crane Rental in Hurst, TX

Crane rental in Hurst comes down to fitting a machine into a city that is already built. The Hurst Economic Development Corporation's website says "98% of the land in our 10 square mile city is occupied by a business or a home," on a page whose dated items are from 2017. A lift here therefore tends to set up on a driveway, a store parking lot, a school campus or a curb lane, and the room on that spot decides the crane as much as the weight of the load does. We supply mobile, all-terrain, rough-terrain, crawler and spider cranes, boom trucks, rigging and lift planning and heavy hauls, plus rental excavators, loaders, telehandlers, aerial lifts, forklifts and dozers, and this page goes through each service for Hurst.

Each job begins with a written quote, which costs you nothing. For a crane we need five things: the load's weight; its pick-up and landing points; the ground or slab under the crane and the access to it; any overhead wires; and the address and dates. The two points fix the height and the radius, which Manitowoc defines as the "horizontal distance from axis of rotation to center of gravity of the freely suspended load." The maker's load chart then shows what the crane may carry at that radius and boom length. For a rental machine, tell us which one, what it will do, what it will stand on and for how long. The quote itemizes every charge and any tax line, and the cost guide for cranes and equipment explains the published price ranges.

Hurst Is Built Out, So Every Lift Sets Up Beside Something

The Census Bureau measured Hurst's land area at 9.96 square miles in 2020. The city lies in northeast Tarrant County, where the Handbook of Texas entry on Hurst places it "just to the north of Fort Worth" on State Highways 121 and 10, north of the West Fork of the Trinity River; the City puts it 10 miles from downtown Fort Worth. The Census count was 40,413 in 2020 and the estimate for July 1, 2025 is 38,974, a 3.6% decline. With so little open land, the building work in the public record is replacement: a high school being rebuilt on its own campus while classes go on, a new elementary school building on its existing campus, a sewer line replacement, a freeway reconstructed.

Aviation runs through the city's history. The Handbook records that "in 1951 Bell Aircraft (Helicopter) announced it would build a plant in Hurst," that the town became a "bedroom community for Fort Worth," and that during the Vietnam War "the Bell Helicopter workforce topped 11,000." It adds that Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport's "January 1974 opening further stimulated the local economy." Bell's current operations in Hurst were not confirmed in the sources we checked, so we describe the plant only as part of the city's past.

North East Mall anchors the retail side. The Handbook says "The North East Mall arrived in 1972" and doubled the city's retail sales within a month, the City calls it "the largest mall in Tarrant County until the 1990s," and its owner lists "more than 140 stores" at "HWY 121/183 and Loop 820 in Hurst." TxDOT has rebuilt the freeways around it in two projects. The North Tarrant Express "rebuilt and expanded 13 miles along I-820 and SH 121/183" for $2.1 billion from October 2010 to October 2014, the month the City says TEXpress lanes opened on the 183/121 freeway. TxDOT's I-820 East Loop page then reports a $174 million project on I-820 from SH 121/183 to Randol Mill Road, plus SH 121 from Handley Ederville Road to I-820's south interchange, that reached substantial completion in 2024.

Schools and the college are the other large sites. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD reports that "The groundbreaking ceremony for L.D. Bell High School was held on March 26, 2025," and its L.D. Bell bond update page lays out two phases: 38 months, March 2025 to mid 2028, to build the new building, with completion estimated for May 2028, then 12 months, late 2028 to mid/late 2029, to demolish the old one. A new Hurst Hills Elementary building followed with a June 10, 2025 groundbreaking, and the district is also rebuilding Trinity High School in Euless; our Euless crane and equipment rental page and our Bedford crane and equipment rental page, for the district's headquarters city, cover those two cities. We cite these projects as their owners describe them; they are not our jobs.

Cranes for Hurst Lifts, From Truck Cranes to Heavy Hauls

Each crane below comes one of two ways. Operated, we send it with an operator and bill hourly with a minimum charge; bare, you take the machine alone and supply the person at the controls. OSHA section 1926.1427 governs that person in both cases: "The employer must ensure that each operator is trained, certified/licensed, and evaluated in accordance with this section." With a bare crane the employer is you, so we ask who will run it; with an operated crane, the operator we send works under that same section.

Truck Cranes on Hurst Driveways, Lots and Curb Lanes

A mobile crane, a telescoping boom mounted on a truck that drives itself to the job, suits a city where most setups are on pavement, which is Hurst's situation with 98% of its land occupied. The limit is room beside what is already there. OSHA section 1926.1404 says "The outriggers must be set to remove the equipment weight from the wheels," so those steel beams, swung out from the carrier, need firm footing clear of parked cars, trees and walls. Blocking, which OSHA says is also called cribbing, is wood or other material that spreads that load into the ground. Under 29 CFR 1926.1402 the controlling entity must tell the operator about voids, tanks or utilities that its documents, such as site drawings, show beneath the setup area. How outrigger spread changes capacity is shown with example truck cranes under mobile crane rental.

All-Terrain Cranes for Hurst's Largest Building Projects

An all-terrain crane carries its telescopic boom on a carrier with many axles, built for highway runs between jobs, and it earns the trip to Hurst when the load outweighs what a truck crane can hold at that radius. Hurst's public record includes two new education buildings: Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD's new L.D. Bell High School building, under construction from March 2025 with completion estimated for May 2028, and a new science building at Tarrant County College, whose events list shows a "New Science Building Groundbreaking" on October 26, with no year printed. The crane's trip is planned like any permitted move: TxDMV restriction 17779 allows no permits on the SH 121 northbound to I-820 southbound move. Read when an AT beats a truck crane under all-terrain crane rental.

Rough-Terrain Cranes on Hurst's Few Dirt Sites

A rough-terrain crane rides a trailer to the job and then drives on its own large tires, so in Hurst it fits the setups on dirt instead of pavement: a building pad on a campus, or a lot cleared for a new building. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD's Hurst Hills Elementary project places a new building "on the same campus as the current school." Ground like that answers to OSHA section 1926.1402: no crane use until the ground is "firm, drained, and graded" enough, mats or blocking included where needed, to meet what the crane's maker requires for support and level. That section puts the ground work on the controlling entity, the prime or general contractor in overall charge. No soil map for Hurst itself was in our facts, so we look at the ground at the address; steering modes and mats are under rough-terrain crane rental.

Crawler Cranes for the Rare Long Job in Hurst

A crawler crane travels on steel tracks and is put together at the site, so it suits long jobs with many heavy picks and room to lay out the boom, which in Hurst points to a big campus rather than a city lot. The largest acreage in our Hurst facts is Tarrant County College's Northeast campus, "located on 188 acres in Hurst and North Richland Hills." Putting the crane up and taking it down falls under OSHA's assembly rules, 1926.1403 and 1926.1404; under the second, the work "must be directed by a person who meets the criteria for both a competent person" and a qualified person, or else by a competent person assisted by one or more qualified persons. A tall boom also brings in the FAA check in the questions below. For trailer loads and mats, see crawler crane rental.

Boom Trucks for Hurst Homes, Stores and Small Additions

A boom truck, a crane boom mounted on the bed of a heavy truck, parks close and handles moderate loads, which fits a city of houses and stores: roof trusses, rooftop units, signs, small steel and glass. Whether OSHA's crane rules apply turns on what the truck does with the load. OSHA's cranes FAQ says the standard "does not apply when construction materials are delivered from the flatbed to the ground" at a site, provided the crane is not used to line them up in a particular order for hoisting, but "Moving materials onto a structure being erected is a construction activity." So a boom truck setting trusses onto a Hurst house frame is doing crane work under Subpart CC, while one leaving the bundle in the yard generally is not. Truck ratings and boom reach are compared under boom truck rental.

Spider and Mini Cranes Inside Hurst Stores and Schools

A spider crane, a mini crawler crane that stands on fold-out legs, works where no truck can park close: inside a building, on an upper floor or behind a storefront. Storefronts are common in Hurst; the owner of North East Mall lists "more than 140 stores," and the makers pitch these cranes at that setting, from Jekko's "intricate glazing projects on multi-story buildings and storefronts" to Maeda's list of "Indoors / Roof Tops / Multi-Story Building Floors / Behind Buildings." One rule changes with size: a crane whose "manufacturer-rated hoisting/lifting capacity of 2,000 pounds or less" puts it outside OSHA's operator certification section, 1926.1427, still needs a trained operator, because section 1926.1441 makes the employer train each one first. Door widths and floor loads are covered under spider crane rental.

Rooftop Unit Lifts on Hurst Retail, School and Office Roofs

In Hurst an HVAC crane lift sets, swaps or pulls rooftop units (RTUs), single cabinets that hold a building's heating and cooling and rest on a raised roof curb, on store, school and office roofs. Your HVAC contractor handles the unit; we bring the crane, run it, plan the rigging and make the pick, sizing all of it from the maker's unit weight and the distance to the curb. Weather sets the calendar. NWS Fort Worth/Dallas records that on April 5, 2003 "Three inch hail also pummeled northeast Tarrant County," the part of the county where the Handbook places Hurst, and its DFW records count 44 days in 2026 with a low of 80 degrees or higher, a figure it marks as subject to change. Unit weights and rigging steps are covered under HVAC crane service, and the storm and heat records sit with our construction and weather data for Arlington.

Lift Plans for Hurst Campuses With Classes in Session

A written lift plan matters most in Hurst where people keep using a site during the work, and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD says its L.D. Bell plan "will accomplish a major rebuild while classes continue on campus." On any occupied site, OSHA's crane rules decide the separation. 29 CFR 1926.1424 calls for "control lines, warning lines, railings or similar barriers to mark the boundaries" of the hazard areas around the turning upperworks, and 29 CFR 1926.1425 adds that "Only employees needed to receive a load are permitted to be within the fall zone when a load is being landed." A signal person, who relays directions to the operator, is needed when the operator cannot fully see "the load travel or the area near or at load placement" (29 CFR 1926.1419). See rigging and lift planning for plans and signals.

Heavy Hauls and Machinery Moves Into Hurst

Moving a machine into Hurst by truck becomes a permitted heavy haul once the load passes Texas legal size or weight limits, and the freeways serving Hurst add their own permit limits. North East Mall sits where SH 121/183 meets Loop 820, and elsewhere on the loop's east side TxDMV restriction 71149 reads "No permits southbound between 1 mile north of SH180 and 3/4 mile south of SP303 every night," from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and to 9 a.m. on weekends. Inside a building, a machine moves with rigging, a carry deck crane or a spider crane instead of a trailer. TxDMV permits, escorts and in-plant moves have their own page, heavy haul and machinery moving.

Equipment Rental in Hurst by the Day, Week or Month

Hurst rentals run daily, weekly or monthly, with the maker's operating information packed with each unit. Forklift, telehandler and aerial lift work calls for training under OSHA and ANSI/SAIA, and we ask that it be in place; for boom and scissor lifts, ANSI/SAIA A92.24 is the training standard. No bucket goes in the ground before someone, you or us, has called Texas 811. Below, each machine is matched to what Hurst offers: little bare ground, busy campuses and utility lines under finished streets.

Excavators for Hurst Sewer Lines and Tight Backyards

An excavator in Hurst works in ground that is already in use: yards, alleys and streets laid over existing pipes. The City's Public Works page lists Water and Waste Water divisions and a Valley View Branch Sanitary Sewer "Replacement from State Highway 10 to Redbud Drive." OSHA's 29 CFR 1926.651 requires the estimated location of sewer, telephone, fuel, electric and water lines to be determined before a trench is opened, and it keeps spoil and equipment at least 2 feet back from the edge or behind retaining devices. Texas 811 must hear about the dig at least two business days before it starts. Mini, midi and full-size classes are weighed against each other under excavator rental.

Skid Steers and Track Loaders for Hurst Demolition Cleanup

A skid steer, a compact loader that turns by running the wheels or tracks on each side at different speeds, grades, backfills and clears debris on small Hurst sites. Demolition is on the calendar in Hurst: Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD's L.D. Bell schedule gives its second phase, late 2028 to mid/late 2029, to the "Demolition of old building; complete remaining work." Around people, OSHA's 29 CFR 1926.602 bars running earthmoving equipment with an obstructed rear view in reverse unless it has a working reverse signal alarm that can be heard over the noise, or a worker signals that it is clear. The wheels-or-tracks choice is laid out under skid steer and track loader rental.

Telehandlers for Hurst Building Sites and Roof Loads

A telehandler is a forklift whose boom telescopes out and up, and on Hurst building sites it carries pallets and materials to upper floors and roofs, from a campus building to a store re-roof. OSHA's eTool puts this "Variable reach type" among Class VII rough terrain forklift trucks, but its rules can change on the job: OSHA's cranes FAQ says equipment "designed to function as both a crane and a forklift would be considered multi-purpose equipment," and OSHA's June 21, 2012 letter applies the crane standard to it "when configured, and operated as, a crane." On forks, the operator needs the training and evaluation of section 1910.178(l), and an evaluation "shall be conducted at least once every three years." For a Hurst re-roof, check the capacity at the reach you need under telehandler rental.

Boom Lifts for Hurst Storefronts, Signs and Lights

A boom lift, a work platform on a jointed or telescoping arm, reaches up and over obstacles to a store sign, a parking-lot light or a building face, the kind of reach a mall and its stores call for. OSHA section 1926.453 says "Only authorized persons shall operate an aerial lift," requires the lift controls to be "tested each day prior to use," and requires the brakes set, with outriggers on pads or a solid surface when they are used. The basket is not a ladder stand: workers must stand firmly on its floor, not on its edge or on planks or ladders. Articulating and telescopic machines, by height and outreach, are weighed under boom lift rental.

Scissor Lifts Inside Hurst Schools, Stores and Offices

A scissor lift raises a railed deck straight up on crossed arms, the interior machine for ceilings, lights, ducts and sprinklers in buildings like the new Hurst Hills Elementary, which the district said could open as early as July 2026, or a store being refitted. OSHA does not treat it as an aerial lift: an August 1, 2000 OSHA letter says scissor lifts "do meet the definition of a scaffold," so "the specific requirements for mobile scaffolds in the scaffold standard (section 1926.452(w) - mobile scaffolds) must be met." With guardrails in place, that letter says workers need not tie off, and OSHA's Scaffolding eTool adds that "Only trained workers are allowed to use scissor lifts." Choose a deck height under scissor lift rental.

Forklifts for Hurst Stores, Schools and Job Sites

A forklift lifts pallets on its forks, and the Hurst choice is about the floor: a cushion-tire truck for a finished slab inside a store or school, a pneumatic-tire or Class VII rough terrain truck for a jobsite yard. The facts we hold for Hurst name no industrial park or distribution center; its large sites in the record are the mall, the college campus and the schools, with Bell's plant in its history. Under OSHA section 1910.178(l), nobody drives the truck until the employer has seen that operator's training and evaluation through, and 29 CFR 1926.602(d) carries that rule onto construction sites. 29 CFR 1926.602(c) also wants "the rated capacity clearly posted on the vehicle" so it is "clearly visible to the operator." Tire types and capacities are compared under forklift rental.

Backhoes and Loaders for Hurst Utility and Park Work

One backhoe loader can take a Hurst service-line repair from cut to cleanup: the hoe on the back opens the trench, the bucket on the front loads the spoil, and the same bucket pushes it back. The City's Public Works department runs Engineering, Streets, Drainage and Traffic Control, Water and Waste Water divisions, and the City's Parks Division, working from an updated Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan for "the next 5-10 years," is responsible for the city's parkland, park facilities and infrastructure. Texas Utilities Code section 251.002 treats digging, trenching or backfilling as excavation when it goes "to remove or otherwise disturb soil to a depth of 16 or more inches," which brings in the Texas 811 call. For loading alone, a wheel loader is the larger machine, and backhoe and loader rental sets the two side by side.

Dozers for the Few Open Pads Left in Hurst

A dozer, a crawler tractor with a front blade, cuts and fills building pads and clears land, and in a city where the EDC counts 98% of the land as occupied, a Hurst dozer job is more likely a pad on a cleared or demolished site than raw land. The Handbook of Texas places Hurst north of the West Fork of the Trinity River, and Hurst's code of ordinances would not load when we gathered our facts, so we check grading and floodplain requirements for each address. OSHA's rollover-protection subpart lists "crawler tractors, crawler-type loaders, and motor graders" in its scope at section 1926.1000, and 29 CFR 1926.602 says "Seat belts shall be provided on all equipment covered by this section." Blade sizes and track widths are listed under dozer rental.

Permits, Freeways and DFW Airspace for Hurst Lifts

The City of Hurst's code of ordinances would not load from either online publisher when our facts were gathered, so this page states no Hurst construction hours, right-of-way permit or truck routes, and borrows none from another city. Two offices are on record. The City of Hurst's Building Inspections page handles permits and contractor registration, takes applications by email, issues permits from 8 am to 5 pm, and lists codes adopted January 1, 2017, including the 2015 International Building Code under Ordinance 2347. Public Works lists Streets, and Drainage and Traffic Control, among its divisions. Before a crane or machine uses a Hurst street, we check with the City and pass its answer to you ahead of scheduling.

State and federal rules fill in the rest. Hurst sits on State Highways 121 and 10, North East Mall's corner of SH 121/183 and Loop 820 is in the city, and both freeways carry TxDMV restrictions for permitted loads. The Handbook ties the local economy to DFW Airport, whose longest runways measure 13,400 feet, so tall lifts in Hurst get the FAA check described in the questions below. Our Arlington crane permit guide sets out the state and federal rules in full, and the points below apply to Hurst jobs in particular.

  • Texas legal height is 14 feet, and TxDMV requires a front escort with a height pole for any permitted load over 17 feet tall.
  • Loads over 17 feet high must call TxDMV's Fort Worth District, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 24 hours before traveling (restrictions 66053/66054).
  • TxDMV's escort table calls for one escort on loads wider than 14 feet up to 16 feet, and front and rear escorts on all roads above 16 feet.
  • Texas811's FAQ says an excavator must renotify "if the commencement is delayed beyond fourteen days of the original notice."
Questions

Hurst FAQs

Can you bring a crane to Hurst from Arlington?

Yes. A truck crane drives to a Hurst job on its own wheels; TxDMV "issues an annual permit for unladen lift equipment motor vehicles exceeding legal width and weight limits," and Transportation Code section 623.182 sets its fee at $100. TxDMV's Tarrant County curfew keeps oversize loads off the county's highways on weekday mornings from 7 to 9 a.m. and evenings from 4 to 6 p.m., but restriction 17801 says "Mobile cranes are exempt from the Tarrant county curfew." A machine hauled on a trailer under an oversize permit does wait out those hours. Travel shows on the written quote as its own charge.

Do I need a permit for a crane on a Hurst street?

We confirm that with the City for each job, because Hurst's own rules were not online when we checked. Its code of ordinances would not load, so we cannot quote its right-of-way rule, construction hours or truck routes, and we will not borrow Arlington's. The City's Building Inspections office handles permits and contractor registration, and Public Works lists Streets and Drainage and Traffic Control among its divisions. Before you lock a date, we put the question to the City and tell you what must be filed and by whom.

Does a crane in Hurst need FAA approval because of DFW Airport?

Only if the lift meets the FAA's notice criteria, which we check for each address. 14 CFR 77.9, the FAA's list of when notice is due, covers "Any construction or alteration that is more than 200 ft. AGL at its site" and anything crossing a slope of "100 to 1 for a horizontal distance of 20,000 ft." from the closest runway of an airport like DFW, whose longest runways measure 13,400 feet. The FAA's Part 77 page lists "Cranes, Boom Trucks" as temporary construction, and under 14 CFR 77.7 Form 7460-1 is due no later than 45 days before the start date. No source we hold gives a distance from Hurst to DFW, so the check runs on the site and the boom height.

How close can a crane get to power lines at a Hurst house?

Twenty feet is the federal starting point, and six feet is the Texas floor. OSHA's power line section, 1926.1408, opens by asking whether the crane, at its longest working radius, could come "closer than 20 feet to a power line," and its Table A widens that distance for lines above 350 kV. Texas's high-voltage line law, Health and Safety Code chapter 752, lets nothing come "within six feet of a high voltage overhead line," one above 600 volts, until the party doing the work, per section 752.003, does "notify the operator of the line at least 48 hours before the work begins" and a safeguard such as de-energizing the line is agreed. We check the lines before the lift and say what must be arranged.
