Crane Rental in Mansfield, TX
Mansfield's construction hours set the first limit on a crane or machine job in the city: the City of Mansfield allows construction in every zoning district Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and bars outdoor construction on Sundays and on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. That makes Saturday a working day for an outdoor pick, a single crane lift, and Sunday a closed one. The rest of the job comes from the ground, the highways and the three counties the city touches. The Handbook of Texas entry for Mansfield places it in southeastern Tarrant County with parts in northeastern Johnson County and northwestern Ellis County, reached by U.S. Route 287 and Texas Highway 360.
Mansfield is growing quickly. The Census Bureau's 2020 count was 72,602 and its estimate for July 1, 2025 is 84,444, a 16.3% rise, and the city meets Arlington at Debbie Lane, which the City of Arlington widened to four lanes over a 1.5-mile section between State Highway 360 and the Mansfield city limits, a job it marked complete in August 2026. Take a crane with its operator, billed hourly against a minimum, or rent it bare and seat your own operator, who must meet OSHA's operator rules. A Stadium District, a Nursing School and New Plants in Mansfield
The Staybolt Street Entertainment District is taking shape along Texas 360. The Mansfield Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) described it in November 2025 as a 100-acre district near Heritage Parkway, and the City and FC Dallas broke ground on its multi-sport stadium on Monday, Aug. 19, on Heritage Parkway, in a release the MEDC reposted in October 2024; the City will own the venue. The City's Staybolt Street district page says the stadium seats approximately 7,000 and gives no opening date, and it lists Hotel Carbon at 175 rooms and a second hotel at 150 rooms for winter 2027 and High 5 Mansfield, a two-story, 45,000-square-foot venue, for summer 2027. Steel, precast and rooftop equipment on buildings like these are crane picks; the streets, pads and fields around them are dozer, loader and telehandler work.
Offices, classrooms, plants and a data center campus come next. The City said on August 25, 2026 that The Mansfield Innovation Community (The MIC), in The LinQ Innovation District, will be a five-story, approximately 150,000-square-foot development due in fall 2027, with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing taking about 33,000 square feet and starting classes in spring 2028. Crystal Window and Door Systems plans an advanced manufacturing facility and regional corporate headquarters in Mansfield with 504 new jobs, according to the Office of the Governor's October 2024 announcement. Aligned Data Centers lists its DFW-03 campus in Mansfield on 27 acres. Each asks for different lifting: a crawler or all-terrain crane for heavy steel and plant equipment, a boom truck or telehandler for lighter loads.
Mansfield's older industrial base sits beside the new work. The Handbook of Texas says the city developed two 400-acre industrial parks in the 1960s and that the Carnation Company opened a can plant there in 1969. The MEDC's employer list starts with Mouser Electronics at 2,067, Methodist Mansfield Medical Center at 1,428, Klein Tools at 733 and Hoffman Cabinets at 502. Mansfield ISD, which covers more than 94 square miles and enrolled 35,851 students as of December 2024 according to its district facts and figures, is carrying out the bonds its voters approved on May 4, 2024, with Phase I additions at middle schools and at Ben Barber and Frontier STEM.
Walnut Creek, the area's first name according to the Handbook, feeds Joe Pool Lake: the Texas Water Development Board places the lake on Walnut Creek and Mountain Creek, and part of the lake lies in south Grand Prairie, which has its own Grand Prairie crane rental page. The City posts Tarrant County flood studies for Walnut Creek and the Bowman, Hogpen, Low, Nichols-Pond-Ragland and Watson-Willow branches, and it requires structures to sit 2 feet above its developed flood elevation, or 3 feet above the effective base flood elevation where the first figure has not been set. The Handbook calls southeast Tarrant County Blackland Prairie, "a rolling grassland with rich clayey and loamy soil." For a crane, that means outriggers, the legs it braces on, set on mats (heavy pads that spread its weight) back from creek banks; for a dozer, pads built to the City's flood line.

Crane Services for Mansfield's Districts, Plants and Schools
Mansfield's crane work splits between finished lots in the older parts of the city and raw ground in new districts such as Staybolt Street. Either way the crane is picked from the load's weight and its radius, how far the load sits horizontally from the crane's center, checked against the maker's load chart, which lists the allowed weight for each radius and boom length. Mansfield then layers on its own limits: the construction hours, the City's street limits for heavy and oversize vehicles, and the three-county line.
Truck Cranes Along Mansfield's US 287 and SH 360 Corridors
A mobile truck crane, a hydraulic boom crane on its own truck carrier, drives to a Mansfield job and works from its outriggers. The highways bring it in: the MEDC counts 9.7 miles of US 287 inside the city, plus 5 miles of the SH 360 tollway. Rush hour does not hold it at the yard either, since the Tarrant County line of TxDMV's curfew list exempts mobile cranes. The lift itself must fit the City's construction hours, which leave Saturday open and Sunday closed to outdoor work. A one-day pick for a school addition, a plant roof or a sign fits that pattern. Our mobile crane rental page explains load charts, outriggers and the national ranges.
All-Terrain Cranes for Mansfield's Staybolt Street Build
An all-terrain crane, a crane on several steering axles built for road travel as well as rough job sites, takes the heavy, long-reach picks of a district build such as Staybolt Street. Access is part of the plan: the City's October 2023 road report called for rebuilding Lone Star Road as a 4-lane roadway with a roundabout at Heritage Parkway, plus new streets to serve the stadium site north of Lone Star Road. A large AT travels with separate counterweight loads, so the site needs room for those trucks to unload beside the crane. Even far from a runway, 14 CFR 77.9 requires FAA notice for any object that rises above 200 feet AGL (above ground level), and the FAA treats a crane as temporary construction. Counterweight transport and escorts are covered on our all-terrain crane rental page.
Rough-Terrain Cranes on Mansfield's New Pads and Ballfields
A rough-terrain crane, a crane on big off-road tires with four-wheel drive that arrives on a trailer and then drives from pick to pick, fits Mansfield ground that is still being graded. The City's Staybolt Street page describes the Fields at Station 63 as more than 40 acres with eight turf baseball and softball fields, alongside plans for 700 new single-family homes, and work like that moves from dirt to finished surface in stages an RT can follow without a road between picks. The City's Engineering Services page posts a Grading and Fill Permit among its permits. Under OSHA section 1926.1402, if the operator finds the ground below the standard, the operator's employer must take up the needed preparation with the controlling entity, the firm in overall charge of the project. The rough-terrain crane rental page compares travel and steering.
Crawler Cranes for Mansfield's Data Center and Multi-Story Frames
A crawler crane, a tracked crane trucked in as components and put together where it will work, suits long Mansfield programs with heavy, repeated picks, such as a data center campus or a multi-story frame; Aligned lists its DFW-03 campus here on 27 acres, and The MIC is planned at five stories. Getting the pieces there is its own job. Mansfield's code holds city streets other than state or federal highways to 20,000 pounds on a single axle, 34,000 pounds on a tandem and 80,000 pounds overall, and moves past those limits need a permit from the Police Department. Assembly then follows OSHA sections 1926.1403 and 1926.1404 under an A/D director, the person in charge of putting the crane together and taking it apart. Our crawler crane rental page lists transport loads and mat needs.
Boom Trucks for Mansfield School Additions and Rooftops
A boom truck, a truck with a telescoping crane behind the cab and a deck for the load, handles the lighter Mansfield picks: rooftop units, roof joists, trusses, signs and glass. School additions are one example. Mansfield ISD's 2024 bond Phase I lists orchestra additions and capital improvements at Worley, Jobe, Coble, Howard, Jones and Wester middle schools, a classroom and lab addition at Ben Barber and Frontier STEM, and new transportation buildings. A boom truck sets up in a parking lot or drive lane, and its lift time has to fit both the City's construction hours and the campus schedule. When OSHA's crane rules reach a delivery is explained on our boom truck rental page.
Spider and Mini Cranes for Old Downtown Mansfield and Interiors
A spider crane, a small crane on rubber tracks whose outriggers fold in so it can roll through a door, lifts where a truck crane cannot reach from the street. Mansfield's old downtown is one such place: the Handbook of Texas notes the preservation of the old downtown corridor and that the city restored the Man House Museum and opened it in 2020. Interiors are the other. The nursing school space at The MIC and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, second on the MEDC's employer list, are buildings where glass, equipment and atrium pieces may have to go in by small crane, the uses makers list for these machines. The spider and mini crane rental page compares widths and the carry deck option.
HVAC Crane Service on Mansfield Roofs, Saturdays Included
HVAC crane service in Mansfield raises rooftop units (RTUs), condensers and other mechanical gear to commercial roofs and lowers the units they replace. The mechanical contractor does the unit work, and we bring the lifting side: crane, operator, rigging and plan. The City's hours shape the schedule. Because construction is allowed Monday through Saturday, a store or plant that cannot stop on a weekday can take its swap on a Saturday, while Sunday stays closed to outdoor work. Heat matters as well: the NWS Fort Worth/Dallas office counted 52 days at 100 degrees F or hotter at DFW in 2026, a provisional total tied with 1954 for fifth-most, and our weather and construction data page has more. Roof curbs, the frames units sit on, and unit weights are covered on our HVAC crane service page.
Rigging and Lift Plans for Mansfield Picks Near New Homes
A lift plan for a Mansfield pick sets out the load weight, the rigging, the crane position and who does what, and here it also fixes the start time. The City's hours open outdoor work at 7 a.m., so an early pick is planned for that time rather than dawn. New homes sit close to new commercial work, with 700 single-family homes in the Staybolt Street plan. OSHA's rule at 29 CFR 1926.1424 has the employer mark the crane's swing hazard area with "control lines, warning lines, railings or similar barriers", and 29 CFR 1926.1425 reads: "Only employees needed to receive a load are permitted to be within the fall zone when a load is being landed." Spring storms are the weather entry: NWS Fort Worth/Dallas averages 7.7 thunderstorm days at DFW in May, the most of any month. Signal rules and the rigger's role are on our rigging and lift planning page.
Heavy Haul Into Mansfield on State Highways and City Streets
Heavy haul into Mansfield runs under two sets of rules: TxDMV's on the state highways and the City's own code on its streets, which the rules section below sets out. On the state side, TxDMV's Fort Worth District list caps width at 12 feet on FM 1187 between IH35W and Newt Patterson Road in Mansfield (restriction 72051, dated 08/11/26), and restriction 69386 sets a 14-foot width limit on the I-20 westbound ramp to US 287 southbound. Loads of this scale come with Mansfield's new plants and pipelines: the State announced Crystal Window and Door Systems' manufacturing facility in 2024, and the City reported that the Cedar Creek pipeline replacement uses 90-inch and 102-inch welded steel pipe. The heavy haul and machinery moving page explains TxDMV permits and escorts.
Equipment Rental for Mansfield Pads, Pipelines and Plant Floors
Mansfield's equipment work runs from pipeline trenches and ballfield grading to ceiling work inside new plants, with each machine rented by the day, week or month. Two Mansfield rules travel with every rental: outdoor work stops on Sundays and the three listed holidays, and heavy trucks on city streets follow the City's code. Machines come with their makers' operating information, and anyone running a forklift, telehandler or aerial lift should have the training set out by OSHA and the ANSI/SAIA standards; we ask about it when you book. Before any digging, a Texas 811 request goes in two business days ahead, from you or from us.
Excavators for Mansfield Street Cuts and Pipeline Trenches
An excavator in Mansfield digs utility trenches, footings and street cuts, and a dig in a public street needs a permit first. Mansfield Code section 98.15 makes it unlawful to "excavate across, along, in or about any public street, alley or other public way" without a permit from the City Secretary, at a fee of $10 per permit. Bigger trenches cross the area too: the City of Mansfield's notice on the Cedar Creek pipeline said in November 2025 that the Tarrant Regional Water District had begun replacing about 11 miles of pipeline from Mansfield to Midlothian, with completion projected for 2028. Trenches of that size call for full-size excavators, and OSHA requires cave-in protection from 5 feet deep unless the cut is in stable rock. Our excavator rental page compares mini to full-size machines.
Skid Steers and Track Loaders Around Mansfield Parks and Homes
Wheeled skid steers and rubber-track loaders handle Mansfield's small grading, backfill and cleanup, the tracks on soft clay and the wheels on paved lots. Much of that work sits beside homes and parks: the City cites more than 900 acres of parkland, and the Staybolt Street plan includes 700 new single-family homes. On Blackland Prairie clay, a tracked loader keeps working after a wet spell where wheels rut. Loader work is outdoor construction, so it keeps to the City's Monday-to-Saturday hours. Our skid steer and track loader rental page compares rated capacity and ground pressure and covers OSHA's rollover and seat belt rules.
Telehandlers for Mansfield's Hotels and Two-Story Venues
A telehandler, a reach lift whose forks ride on a telescoping boom, carries block, roofing and framing up and over the unfinished ground of Mansfield's district builds. The City's Staybolt Street page lists two hotels, of 175 and 150 rooms, scheduled for winter 2027, and the two-story High 5 Mansfield for summer 2027. Low buildings like the venue suit a telehandler; as a frame rises, the load at the needed height and reach decides when a crane takes over, and the maker's chart answers that. OSHA's eTool places variable-reach trucks with a telescoping boom in Class VII, and its training rule calls for an operator evaluation at least once every three years. Our telehandler rental page gives capacities at full height and full reach.
Boom Lifts for the Outside of Mansfield's New Buildings
A boom lift, a work basket on a jointed or straight extending boom, reaches the outside of Mansfield's new buildings where a scissor deck cannot: facades, signs, canopies and exterior lights. The district build along Texas 360 puts that work in the open, where wind decides the day; NWS Fort Worth/Dallas lists April as the windiest month at DFW on average, and OSHA's aerial lift fact sheet says "Do not operate an aerial lift in high winds above those recommended by the manufacturer." Overhead lines along streets add a second check: Texas law, in Health and Safety Code section 752.003, gives the line's operator 48 hours' notice before work closer than the law's six feet, and the party doing the work pays for the clearance. Our boom lift rental page covers heights, outreach, the harness rule and ANSI/SAIA training.
Scissor Lifts for Mansfield Plant, Office and School Interiors
A scissor lift, a deck that climbs straight up on folding steel supports, does ceiling, lighting, sprinkler and duct work inside Mansfield's plants, offices and schools. The Office of the Governor's announcement describes Crystal Window and Door Systems' Mansfield project as an advanced manufacturing facility with a regional corporate headquarters, and the MEDC's employer list includes manufacturers such as Klein Tools, Hoffman Cabinets and Southern Champion Tray. Interiors like these suit slab electric scissor lifts, and a rough-terrain model works outside on a graded pad. OSHA's scissor lift hazard alert says to "Use the scissor lift outside only when weather conditions are good" and that "Employers must provide workers training on hazards". Our scissor lift rental page lists platform heights and deck capacities.
Forklifts for Mansfield's Plants, Carriers and Yards
A forklift moves material across Mansfield's plant floors, docks and yards, cushion-tired on smooth concrete and pneumatic-tired on rough pavement or gravel. The industrial base goes back to the two 400-acre industrial parks the Handbook of Texas dates to the 1960s, and the MEDC's employer list carries manufacturers and carriers from Klein Tools and Hoffman Cabinets to BCB Transport, Conveyors Inc. and Utex Industries. For yards and unpaved lots, OSHA's eTool places rough terrain forklift trucks in Class VII and notes that "the term 'rough terrain' does not imply that the forklift can be safely operated on every conceivable type of terrain." Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l), a forklift operator is trained and evaluated in the workplace before driving one, except in training. Tire choice and mast height are compared on our forklift rental page.
Backhoes and Loaders on Mansfield's Road and Drainage Work
A backhoe loader, a tractor with a front bucket for loading and a rear boom for digging, trenches and backfills, and a wheel loader stockpiles base and loads trucks; both fit Mansfield's road and drainage work. The City's October 2023 road report describes a new four-lane connector from N. Main Street to FM 157, planned in part to reduce upstream flooding on Watson Branch, and a new four-lane bridge on Walnut Creek Drive with 6-foot sidewalks on each side. Haul trucks on such jobs follow Mansfield Code section 71.22, which requires truck routes except on the shortest practicable route to or from a loading or unloading site, and section 71.27 holds ready-mix trucks to 20,000 pounds on a single axle, 36,000 pounds on a tandem and 48,000 pounds gross. Dig depth and bucket size by model are on the backhoe and loader rental page.
Dozers for Mansfield Pads, Ballfields and the FM 917 Corridor
A dozer, a tracked tractor that pushes soil with a front blade, builds Mansfield's pads, ballfields and new road beds. The finished grade is fixed before the blade moves: the City's Engineering Services page lists a Grading and Fill Permit, and near mapped streams the City's floodplain rules set the minimum floor height. On the state side, TxDOT's FM 917 (I-35W to Mansfield) project proposes to reconstruct and widen a 9.4-mile stretch from two lanes to four at first and six later, with no construction dates listed. Grading where buried lines may cross also needs a Texas 811 request. Blade capacities, weights and the dozer range are on our dozer rental page.
Construction Hours, City Street Limits and Highways for Mansfield Jobs
The City of Mansfield's Building Safety page sets the clock for outdoor work: "Allowable construction hours in all zoning districts are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Central Standard Time." The same page lists Sundays, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas as days with no outdoor construction, and lets the hours be appealed to the City Manager's Office case by case when unique circumstances prevail. Three of those holidays also appear on TxDMV's holiday page, which says vehicles and loads "exceeding 14 feet wide, 16 feet high, or 110 feet long may not be moved" on its listed dates without a TxDMV exception. We set the lift date and the delivery date against both lists.
Mansfield's code sets its own limits for heavy vehicles on city streets. Section 71.26 allows a total outside width of 96 inches and a height of 13 feet six inches, load included, and lengths of 35 feet for a single vehicle and 50 feet for a combination. Section 71.27 caps city streets that are not state or federal highways at 20,000 pounds on a single axle, 34,000 pounds on a tandem and 80,000 pounds gross. Larger moves need a permit that the Police Department issues after consulting the City Manager's office; section 71.28 sets the fees at $10 for a single trip and $15, $20, $25 or $50 for periods of up to 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or one year.
Mansfield's highways decide how a big machine arrives. The MEDC names Interstate 20, US 287 and SH 360 as the city's direct roadway connections, and the Handbook places Mansfield mainly in Tarrant County, where the TxDMV curfew for oversize vehicles runs "7 a.m. - 9 a.m. & 4 p.m. - 6 p.m." on weekdays, with mobile cranes exempt. For airspace, the MEDC puts DFW International 24 miles away, but a boom reaching past 200 feet AGL needs FAA notice wherever it stands. The crane permit guide explains the TxDMV, FAA and power line rules in full.
- Engineering permits the City posts: ROW Permit Application, Floodplain Development Permit, Public Infrastructure Connection Permit, Grading and Fill Permit and Temporary Batch Plant Permit.
- Live closures: the City's Engineering Services page links a Traffic Impacts Dashboard of current partial and full road closures.
- Building permits: the City adopted the 2018 Building Codes effective Aug. 1, 2019, and issues building permits as blanket permits under fees approved September 12, 2022.
Mansfield FAQs
What hours can a crane work in Mansfield, TX?
Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., in every zoning district, under the City of Mansfield's allowable construction hours. The City bars outdoor construction on Sundays and on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the City Manager's Office hears appeals case by case when unique circumstances prevail. Travel is a separate question: TxDMV's Tarrant County rush-hour curfew does not apply to mobile cranes, but it does cover oversize trailer loads. We set the lift date and the delivery time around both.
Do I need a city permit to move an oversize load on Mansfield streets?
Yes, when the vehicle or load passes the City's limits. Mansfield's code holds commercial vehicles on its streets to 96 inches wide and 13 feet six inches high, and section 71.28 has the Police Department issue an oversize permit after consulting the City Manager's office, from $10 for a single trip to $50 for a year. On state highways, TxDMV's oversize and overweight permits apply. We check both sets of rules before the move is booked and show each permit in the written quote.
Do I need a permit to dig in a Mansfield street or alley?
Yes. Section 98.15 of Mansfield's code makes it unlawful to dig in "any public street, alley or other public way" without the City Secretary's permit, which costs $10. The City's Engineering Services page also posts a ROW Permit Application and a Grading and Fill Permit. Separately, Texas law requires a Texas 811 request at least two business days before excavating, not counting weekends and holidays. We tell you which permits apply before the machine is delivered.
Which county is Mansfield in, and does it matter for a crane?
Mainly Tarrant County: the Handbook of Texas places Mansfield in southeastern Tarrant County, with parts in northeastern Johnson County and northwestern Ellis County. The county matters for heavy moves, because TxDMV's rush-hour curfew on oversize vehicles names Tarrant County while exempting mobile cranes. The flood maps the City posts are Tarrant County studies too. We check the address, the route and the county rules before the date is set.
